Apple Quietly Releases New iPod Shuffle

Strangely for Apple, no big parade was used to launch the new iPod Shuffle. Even stranger, no one really had any idea it was coming

Apple's new iPod Shuffle: Apple

Apple have very sneakily released a new iPod Shuffle that is available to order at the Apple store (www.apple.com.au) right now. The smallest iPod ever now has no controls on the player itself, instead attaching them to the headphones. And despite its size (almost half that of the previous Shuffle, which is still available), it packs in 4GB of storage.

The clever new trick from Apple is a computerised voice that lets you know track and artist information before you play a song. Those who complained that the screenless design of the Shuffle was a drawback now have a compromise.

At first glance however, there could be some issue with the fact that the controls are now attached to the headphones. Firstly, Apple headphones have never been that great, secondly, now you can't replace them because they control the player. According to some digging Gizmodo did though, Apple will soon release an adapter you can use with third party cans.

The Shuffle is available for $129 in white or silver.
