If today's sci-fi is anything to go by, everyone will eventually move from watches and mobile phones, and instead gravitates to slightly oversized, but extremely versatile wrist-mounted doodads. One particularly adventurous DIY-er has had a go at making their own working gadget bracer, with a hint of slightly-dystopic futurist flare.
Essentially the ISEB6 (as it is a little unsexily known) is designed as a multisensor platform. It does the usual temperature, GPS, compass bearing and so on, but also gets a little more esoteric by measuring galvanic skin temperature, ambient luminance and relative humidity. Plus it also tells the time and comes with an LED flashlight, which is all kinds of handy.
The platform is designed to be extensible with the hardware allowing for a little wiggle room in terms of extra functionality, and particularly zealous DIY-ers can download the ISEB6 firmware here. With Supanova coming up in the next few weeks, it's probably not a bad DIY project, especially if you're a Who/Torchwood fan.
