Killzone 2 Preview for Playstation 3

PopSci plays the next big game to hit the Playstation 3

PopSci learnt two fairly big things this morning when we went down to the Sony offices in Sydney this morning. We were there to speak with a couple of guys on the development team of Killzone 2 for Playstation 3, Steven Ter Heide and Eric Boltjes from Guerrilla Games.

Firstly, and most importantly, Killzone 2 looks like a fantastic game, with a fair few tech developments thrown in to make it something pretty special. Secondly, PopSci?s digital content director (that would be me), no longer suffers from motion sickness after 15 minutes of playing most video games. Of course, when he really needed this unfortunate trait to be gone (whilst saving the Lego Star Wars universe some months back), he discovered it was still very much there.

Killzone 2 is a science fiction first person shooter that takes place on the planet Helghan, the home world of the Helghast. They invaded an Interplanetary Strategic Alliance colony? as you do. The Alliance fought back with the aim of capturing the Helghast leader and to stop the Helghast?s terror campaign. Players take on the role of Sergeant Tomas “Sev” Sevchenko, a war veteran and member of the Alpha team.

The interview with Ter Heide and Boltjes, explaining the real tech side of the game?s development will feature in an upcoming issue of Popular Science, so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, get a load of the official press release on the next page.
