Meanwhile a motorcycle enthusiast with a passion for the unusual has smashed one of the world’s weirdest speed records. Colin Furze of Britain has claimed the new top speed record for a personal mobility scooter, usually driven by the elderly. The rules are such that the scooter must have a standard appearance, including the shopping basket and basic wheels. But Furze was allowed to replace the small battery-powered electric motor with a 125cc motorcycle engine. He managed a top speed of 115km/h, beating the previous record of 100km/h. Unsurprisingly, he said it was dangerously unstable at high speeds. See for yourself …
