Airline of the Year Awards: Move over Singapore Airlines!

The Skytrax Airline of the Year Award winners have just been announced and Singapore Airlines has been toppled from the number one spot

We?ll be posting a more detailed report of the awards later on, but we can announce that the awards have been announced and the big winner for 2009 wasn?t Singapore Airlines again, but Hong Kong based Cathay Pacific. Cathay Pacific moved from the number two spot to take the award that has been dominated by Singapore Airlines of late.

Qantas remained inside the top ten but had to be content with sliding from position three to six, a result that was, no doubt, due to the many issues the airline has faced over the past twelve months.

Skytrax, who are responsible for the awards, survey millions of passengers each year to come up with the final results.
