Qantas Set to Slash Airfares

The Flying Kangaroo has been through a lot over the past year, the end result is airfare cuts in an attempt to get Aussies back on its planes

Qantas is all set to slash airfares in attempt to lure Australian?s back on its flights. A report from News.com.au quotes Qantas executive general manager John Borghetti as saying that this will be one of the biggest campaigns in the airlines? history, even admitting that the past 12-months had done no favours for the Qantas brand.

With the arrival of its fourth A380 in May, Qantas will be using the lead up to slash prices and offer value deals such as two for one tickets. Whether this will be enough to convince the flying public to re-board their jets is another question. Popular routes, such as the Kangaroo (Sydney-London) route, are served by over 30 carriers, including five star airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Emirates. Qantas? virtual monopoly on the Sydney-LA route has also come under increased competition of late from new entrants V-Australia and Delta. The latter is the largest airlines in the world.
