Windows Phone might be a viable alternative to Android and iOS, but there's one market it hasn't cracked: the cheap, low end smartphone. But if these possibly leaked image and specs are anything to go by, they may just be about to make their move via Nokia.

The image turned up on an unofficial Twitter account, @Nokia_N8, with the title Nokia Lumia 610. BGR India yesterday also posted up what they have reported as being leaked specs for the phone, saying that it will sport a 3.2 inch display, a 3MP camera, and, given the fact that it will be running the Tango iteration of the Windows Phone software, 256MB of RAM. It will retail in India, reportedly, for Rs 11,000 (about AU$210).

The phone might not be a powerhouse on paper, but in a country like India where individual savings aren't great, but where mobile connectivity is everywhere, it could well sell like hotcakes. Nokia has also traditionally made the low-end market in the developing world its own with feature phones, but has lost out in recent times thanks to the variety of Android handsets out there. This, however, may be a successful first foray for Windows Phone into the entry-level smartphone space.

The leaks have come just before the Mobile World Congress, which will no doubt give us maybe a few more details on Nokia's plans.
