When Rolls Royce releases a car, you know it’s not going to be the run-of-the-mill vehicles most of us sit in each day. The Phantom Coupe is completely hand built, weighs 2.5 tonnes, and is powered by a 6.75 litre V12 engine.
We were star struck, literally. The most out-there feature of the new vehicle is the option to include hand-crafted Starlight Headlining. Created using fibre optics and LED technology, the Starlight Headlining is made up of 1,600 lights mounted into the leather headlining to give the driver and passengers the feeling they are driving under the night sky. The strength of the light can also be adjusted.
The Phantom Coupe also includes unique inventions such as the Picnic Boot, a fold-down part of the boot you can use as a seat that will safely carry up to 150kg of weight. But with over 44,000 choices of exterior colour, and as many interior options, it may be a while before you have decided on the right Phantom Coupe for you. That relaxing sit on the Picnic Boot will just have to wait.
Rolls Royce haven’t put luxury above safety, though. The Phantom Coupe is built from an all-aluminium space frame and manufactured with a tolerance of just 0.1mm. Each frame is constructed by hand and then checked over by machine to make sure it’s up to standard.
