Pokémon Go, the iPhone and Android mobile app that overlays everyone's favorite pocket monsters onto the real world, is sweeping the smartphone-using world. The app is setting records left and right and is raking in millions of dollars for Niantic and the Pokémon Company. But PoGo isn't without its faults. While the game finally lets you catch Pokémon in the real world, the app is full of bugs and won't serve notifications about nearby catchable creatures. And with the Pokémon Go Plus wearable delayed, players will be without notifications for a while. Or will they?

The augmented reality game Pokémon Go has finally been released around the world on iPhone and Android. The title, created by Niantic with the help of the Pokémon Company, lets you walk around the real world to capture in-game pocket monsters.

Official Pokémon games have traditionally lived on Nintendo-branded game systems. Maybe not the simple Pokémon encyclopedia apps or mini-games you can get for your phone, but the really good ones. Until nine months ago, that is, when the Pokémon Company announced that augmented reality company Niantic -- makers of Ingress -- would be bringing an official Pokémon game to iPhone and Android.
