- It started, according to Telstra, at about 1:50 pm. We noticed, and realised it was a Telstra problem, at about 2:30 pm. Reports started spilling onto Twitter as people started to realise that their internet connection was down, and the problem wasn't with their local gateway.
- My Telstra 3G is down ATM looks like l'm not alone ;( RT @gomichild: Internet borked for at least half an hour in #cairns
- There is a @Telstra issue affecting westpac.com.au & other sites. We're looking into to ensure it's resolved as soon as possible.
- The actual cause is not yet officially known. Telstra themselves have only said that "The cause of the outage is unclear at this stage but affected the whole country. Telstra is working quickly to identify the cause of the problem and will keep customers regularly updated on progress." Of course, the Internet has its own ideas.
- Some being more plausible than others...
- #telstra seems that dodo was the caused. TAFE dude mucked the routing table whrl.pl/Rc55gx whrl.pl/Rc55lM
- Current rumor is that Telstra accepted a dodgy routing table from Dodo and that's what's taken down the internet. #ggTelstra
- And then, of course, Telstra, who we're pretty sure would only have had failed Telstra devices between them, finally managed to enter the fray as the network came up. Not everyone was impressed.
- @Telstra_news ...you may be experiencing intermittent internet access < NOT intermittent. had no access at all. Service guarantee?
