Google, Uber, and Ford have joined forces for the future of the driverless car. Along with Volvo and Lyft, the companies have created a lobbying group named the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets.
The group's purpose is to advocate for autonomous automobiles, specifically as a way to improve the everyday safety of people on the road.
The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets's founding partner companies aren't the only big names associated. Former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration David Strickland will serve as the group's counsel, spokesperson, and face as they begin pushing the world toward completely driverless roads.
