Google (you know, THIS Google and THIS Google) thinks that the best way to make a computer more human is to make it read romance novels.

Yeah.

Over the last few months, Google's AI has pored through thousands of romance novels, of varying levels of trashiness, because the folks at Google think that the language in romance novels is the most "conversational" out there.

We really hope that as the AI learns more about our society it doesn't become too judgmental. The desired result is better responses as we ask it for information, and ultimately better understanding of the human condition.

Otherwise we're stuck with a multi-billion-dollar scriptwriting algorithm for Lifetime originals.
