Apple's iOS 5.0.1: Aussies Can Now Speak To Their Phone, And Be Understood

If you've ever tried to use the Nuance dictation features that came out in the last iOS update, you'll probably have found it to be a little hit and miss. Certainly not a feature you can actually use with certainty. We thought for a moment there we Aussies might just be forgotten, but thankfully there's a whole bullet point dedicated to us in the next 5.0.1 update.
According to MacRumours, the beta version of the update has just been made avaiable to developers.
"iOS 5.0.1 beta contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
- Fixes bugs affecting battery life
- Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
- Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
- Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
- Contains security improvements "
For most people, that battery life fix is going to be the most enticing upgrade, with the battery life under the new update seeming to vary wildly between users and handsets. And anything that improves document and file sync with the iCloud is also a plus.
But it's also nice to know that we'll soon be able to dictate messages and the like on our phones, and I know she'll be right. And no, I'm not referring to Siri
