Corning expands its capacity for making near-indestructible LCD screens

Regardless of where you fall in the Plasma versus LCD screen-preference debate, it’s difficult to deny the popularity and progression of the LCD display. But perhaps the scariest reality of owning an LCD screen—even scarier than the dreaded appearance of dead pixels—is physical damage to the screen itself. Whether it’s a scratch, a crack or any other form of abrasion, it’s difficult to un-notice a blemish once you have noticed it, resulting in a detracted overall viewing experience.

In swings Corning Inc. to save the day with their Gorilla glass LCD screens. According to Engadget, the LCD screen manufacturer is set to expand its Gorilla glass production facilities in anticipation of TV manufacturing demands over the coming months. Why should you care about this? Simple. Because you want one of these screens in any future purchase that has an LCD screen.

Choosing an LCD device with a Gorilla glass display means that you can enjoy enhanced strength and durability, as well as some rather impressive scratch resistance. Of course, such perks would come at the cost of an increased RRP, but having an option for this kind of peace of mind would be money well spent for those who’ve ever suffered damaged LCD screens in the past.
