Aussie Wins Le Mans 24-Hour Race

Australian David Brabham, son of racing legend and three-time F1 World Champion Jack, has won the famous Le Mans 24-Hour Race in France

David Brabham has become only the third Australian racing driver in history to win the famous Le Mans 24-Hour Race. Brabham, a former F1 driver for the Brabham and Simtek teams in the early 90s, joined Brawn GP test driver Alexander Wurz and Ferrari F1 test driver Marc Gene in a diesel powered Peugeot 908 to take the win.

It?s Peugeot?s first win since its return to the Le Mans series three years ago. Despite being in strong positions in past races, it?s never been able to seal the deal until last night, when it brought home second place as well with the all-French combination of F1 driver Sebastien Bourdais, Frank Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin.

Audi Sport, who has dominated the event this decade, finished a distant third. It wasn?t all plain sailing for Peugeot though, after its number 7 car was taken out of the running early on in the race with this accident in pit lane.
