Microsoft Releases My Phone on Open Beta

Microsoft has been hitting the headlines a lot with the release of Windows 7 RC1 to the public. Now check out its next trick, My Phone in open beta

So what makes Microsoft My Phone so special? Well, for people like me who use an iPhone, nothing. But for the hoards of people out there, especially business people, using Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 based phones, one thing. It?s a pretty big thing though. With My Phone you will now be able to automatically back up your phone, including your texts, contacts, photos, emails and more. Those annoying phone crashes, losses and smashes won?t be as hard hitting now because all you?re data will be safe and sound on your computer, which we really hope you have backed up as well, because boy, wouldn?t that be embarrassing!

Today, Microsoft announced that its new My Phone service will be moving to an open beta.

With mobile phone loss an ongoing problem across the world, experts agree that the best way for users to protect their information is to regularly backup data from their phone.

The Microsoft? My Phone service enables people to automatically backup contacts, photos, video, calendar, text messages and more from their phone. Their data gets backed up to a password-protected Web account, allowing people to restore information easily to a new device. In addition, Microsoft announced today that the service is available tomorrow in all 25 Windows Mobile languages.

Everyone who has a Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 phone will be able to download and use the service immediately by visiting http://myphone.microsoft.com.
