Kogan’s Kevin 37 Goes Full HD!

Kogan announces win for Australian consumers

Kogan have had a few stuff ups in the past (anyone remember the Agora phone that was meant to be the first Android phone available in Australia?) but everyone should love them now that they have announced the upgrade of the Kevin 37 LCD TV to full-HD 1080p.

The original specs of the recession busting $900 37-inch TV were 720p but due to a stronger Aussie dollar (according to Kogan), the company has managed to convert the Kevin 37 to 1080p without changing the price tag. The already good value TV is now pretty unbelievable value.

We’ll admit we weren’t super impressed by the original offering. The price was good but the specs were a bit ordinary. That still remains for most specs, but to find a 1080p set at this price is unheard of.

Those who have ordered the Kevin 37 in its original 720p form will automatically have their sets upgraded to 1080p. Nice one Kogan.

KEVIN 37 to ship in Full High Definition 1080p

Kogan Technologies passes factory savings to consumers

MELBOURNE, Australia, 30th March 2009 ? Kogan Technologies has today announced it will ship its KEVIN 37 LCD television in Full HD 1080p at the original AU$900 price point.

Ruslan Kogan, founder of Kogan Technologies said the ability to offer the KEVIN 37 range in Full HD 1080p is a direct result of savings the company had made through its relationships with manufacturers in China.

?We chose to ship the Kevin 37 in Full HD 1080p because we could. We are always pushing our factories for the best possible prices and were able to secure a deal to upgrade the KEVIN 37 without a change in price.

?We deliver direct from factories and are able to translate savings on the factory floor to our customers straight away. Most big brands struggle to do this within a short time due to holding old stock and existing deals they have with distributors and retailers,? he said.

All customers who have already pre-ordered a KEVIN 37 will have their units upgraded to the Full HD 1080p version for free.

Mr Kogan also said the upgrade to the higher specification KEVIN 37 had been helped by the rise in the value of the Australian dollar.

?When the first order for the KEVIN 37 was made, the Australian dollar was weaker, in the past two weeks the value of the dollar has risen allowing us to leverage a permanent better deal for customers.

?If the buying power of the Australian dollar increases, Australian consumers should be able to benefit from this immediately. Kogan Technologies will always try to deliver the best quality products at the cheapest possible prices,? he said.

The KEVIN 37 shot to fame in March 2009 after Kogan Technologies announced the television was being offered at a $900 price point to coincide with the Rudd Government?s stimulus package that will give $900 to each Australian tax payer in March and April 2009.

Customers will still receive a free KEVIN 37 shirt with each purchase.

Kogan Technologies is a 100% Australian owned and operated business. All profits are reinvested into the Australian economy.

Kogan Technologies is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the Government of Australia, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd or the Australian Labor Party.

The KEVIN37 LCD TV has a built in high definition tuner, 6ms response time, and HDMI input.
